Behind the Writing Desk 11
An interview with Madison Nazareth

(A slightly battered Sephzero sits behind the desk with several disorganized piles of paper littered across the surface.)
[Sephzero:] Hello, it has been almost a year since our last feature, but that doesn’t mean we’re gone. Nope, it doesn’t.
[Madison:] Are you okay?
[Sephzero:] I’m still reeling from that party. But I don’t have to tell you about it…
[Madison:] I don’t know what came over me.
[Sephzero:] Still got aches from what you did…
[Madison:] Maybe, it will be better if we just move on from it.
[Sephzero:] Easy for you to say… *sigh* so we’re back folks with another installment of Behind the Writing Desk where we get to a candid talk with some of the characters from the many stories. Today’s guest is from the collaborative series, Devil Helix, with us is Madison Nazareth.
*Recorded Studio Audience Applause*
[Madison:] What was that?
[Sephzero:] They’re just part of a new feature I decided to add to really give the whole audience feel for this piece.
[Madison:] Since this is purely text, they aren’t going to hear anything.
[Sephzero:] True, I guess that’s a few fruitless minutes of internet searching down the drain.
*Recorded Studio Audience Laughter*
[Madison:] You aren’t going to stop using them.
[Sephzero:] Not until the novelty wears off. But let’s get this whole thing started.
[Madison:] The faster this is done, the faster I can get out of here.
[Sephzero:] I seem to recall you were technically once a more cheerful character. What brought about this drastic change in personality for you?
(Madison eyes him.)
[Madison:] Like you have to even ask?
[Sephzero:] I do believe I just did.
(Sephzero fixes his glasses so the light shines ominously off their reflective surface.)
[Madison:] I’ll admit I was a lot more ‘perky’, maybe you could say innocent. Sure I had to deal with the occasional annoyance of friends or the overburden ways of my mom, but that was typical I can handle it.
(She stands up, lifting the bottom hem of her shirt to reveal an interlocking six tattoo surrounding her navel.)
[Madison:] Then I have to get this on me and now I find myself changing into a massive she-devil on occasions. Not to mention even having to battle hell spawns what other supernatural freak of the week.
[Sephzero:] Thanks for the rather revealing show there. *coughs*
(Madison realizing how she was exposing herself, quickly sat back down while her face blushes red)
[Sephzero:] If it was any reassurance, this being all text means nobody can actually see what you just did just imagine it.
[Madison:] Just drop it.
[Sephzero:] It certainly can be all bad. They say every cloud has a silver lining.
(Madison simply grumbles to herself.)
[Sephzero:] You’re saying there is nothing you like about it.
[Madison:] It is all so embarrassing.
[Sephzero:] So that doesn’t mean bad, right?
[Madison:] I’ll admit I enjoy it a bit. The whole process minus some of the pain is almost exhilarating and the form isn’t that bad. It is just that…
[Sephzero:] It is too big for you?
[Madison:] Those muscles are just massive it’s beyond anything normal.
*Recorded Studio Audience Gasp*
[Sephzero:] Then again, it is supernatural.
[Madison:] You’re getting as bad as some people I know. *twitches*
[Sephzero:] It is within my knowledge to explain to you why your devilish persona exhibits such…impressive form when unleashed.
[Madison:] Tell me.
(He claps his hands causing a projector screen to come down behind the two of them. Lights dim as the sound of an old projector starts up displaying a fuzzy image display the silhouettes of what appears to be a normal human and a devil.
[Sephzero:] Presented here are two figures: a human and a devil.
[Madison:] I think that goes without saying.
[Sephzero:] Be quiet and listen, here comes the important distinction. While the two may appear to have comparable sizes, they are by no means comparable in strength. In fact, the devil musculature likely due to its supernatural composition is capable of performing impressive feats of strength despite its outer appearance.
(The images shift on the screen showing the two figures lifting up weights. The human is lifting a dumb bell over its head. On the other hand, the devil is hoisting what appears to be an elephant easily over head.)
*Recorded Studio Audience Gasp*
[Madison:] So they are just more compact, I still don’t see how that explains me.
[Sephzero:] This only is meant to explain pure devils those untainted by any other foreign elements. However, things are different when that same shall we say ‘Devil Helix’ code is introduced into a human being.
(The image shifts to simply the human figure alone. A symbol representing the ‘Devil Helix’ appears as it inserts into the human figure that immediately starts to show devilish features.)
[Madison:]  Like me.
[Sephzero:] Exactly, so while you’re body attempts to reconfigure itself to the same power a small problem emerges. The human frame simply can’t contain such strength in such a tiny package, so instead the body remolds itself to the suitable level.
(The image of the human figure steadily starts to grow bigger and bulkier until it several times larger then what it was before. The devil silhouette returns to compare the sizes of the two despite the comparable showing in feats of strength.)
[Sephzero:] So as you can see, your body reaction is a perfectly normally thing.
(The image turns itself off as the projector stops while the lights turn back on again._
*Recorded Studio Audience Applause*
[Madison:] Are you implying that it is normal to be infected with devil genes?
[Sephzero:] I meant more for why you look so…massive in many areas when you do.
[Madison:] This still doesn’t help me.
[Sephzero:] Whoever said it was going to help you. That was just giving you an explanation.
[Madison:] Are we done yet? I still got to figure out what I’m going to do with that dress from the party.
[Sephzero:] Guess it got pretty stretched thanks to you; good thing is rather flame retardant.
[Madison:] Only to save me some embarrassment after it was all over even if they were mostly hanging off me.
[Sephzero:] I remember how well they clung to you before that.
*Recorded Studio Audience Whistles and Hoots*
[Madison:] That was not my intent when I came to the party.
[Sephzero:] Then what happen?
[Madison:] It’s a bit complicated one thing kind of lead to another and just started to get crazy. Before I knew it all just sort of happened and I was arm wrestling with Helen over who got to date Justin.
(Madison bowed her head visibly embarrassed by the whole incident.)
[Sephzero:] I recall that…you won by taking advantage of her momentary distraction.
[Madison:] Like I lose to her!
[Sephzero:] Guess some things aren’t so different between your two sides. *snickers*
*Recorded Studio Audience Laughter*
[Sephzero] But time is wind down for us, so it’s time for us to get to our last segment.
[Madison:] Finally, I can feel a burning sensation coming on and its not going to be pleasant if it hits.
[Sephzero:] So it is time for Reader’s Question.
(Madison swore under her breath.)
[Sephzero:] Does your mom know you swear like that?
[Madison:] No, and I like it to stay that way.
[Sephzero:] And let’s see what our question is going to be for today, “How the ramification of actual angels and devils does affect your view of the world?” Wow, surprisingly deep question.
[Madison:] Are you sure you got it from the right bag?
[Sephzero:] What is that suppose to mean?
[Madison:] Just from what I heard from the others, these questions tend to be silly and nonsensical most of the time. That one obviously had some thought in it.
[Sephzero:] I’m as surprise as you are by it.
*Recorded Studio Audience Gasp*
[Madison:] Really, just stop with it.
[Sephzero:] How about we get back to the question?
[Madison:] It has really shaken me up honestly. Everything I thought I knew and understand had been tossed upside down. I mean am I now damned for being what I am now? But why does it seem so good too? These questions rack my brains.
[Sephzero:] Yup, but while you dwell on it at least you got some nice figure and can trash some supernatural baddies.
[Madison:] You seem to completely miss by spiritual quandary.
[Sephzero:] I thought we should leave off on a lighter note.
[Madison:] Does that mean this is over?
[Sephzero:] It is pretty much.
(Madison didn’t even pause as she immediately got up and dashed out of the studio.)
[Sephzero:] And I guess that’s it then folks. At least things ended pretty smoothly without incident.
(The fire alarm goes off suddenly sending the sprinklers on and pouring water all over the studio utterly drenching Sephzero and his papers.)
[Sephzero:] I guess she had to let loose some burning heat too…
*Recorded Studio Audience Applause*
[Sephzero:] I’m really hating that.
After a crazy party, I find myself behind the Writing Desk with the heroine of the Devil Helix series, Madison Nazareth. Get some after-party details and a look into the character all in one swing.
